Add a Special Excursion to Your Yacht Charter
Consider the following activities hosted by Allende’s trusted local partners. Intrigued? Let the crew know and they’ll work it in to your custom cruising plan.
Anegada Sea Tour
This is a half-day, WAY-off-the-beaten-track boat tour led by an Anegada native. He will take you to snorkel the amazing Horseshoe Reef, which is the largest barrier coral reef in the Caribbean and the fourth-largest in the world.
At the reef, your guide will show you how locals freedive for the famous Anegada lobster and conch. Your catch will later be served aboard Allende.
This tour also makes a stop at Conch Island, located on the far southeastern shore of Anegada. Millions of conch have been harvested by Anegadans, starting with aborigional people, over hundreds, if not thousands of years. The empty conch shells have been discarded in one location, forming a pink shell mountain in turquoise water. You’ll also look for Anegada’s flock of flamingos, feeding in the shallows.
Cost: $350-$450 per group, plus a cash gratuity to your local Captain.
SCUBA Diving
We partner with the most respected local operators for rendezvous dives during your stay aboard Allende. Options abound, whether you wish to try SCUBA diving for the first time or dive daily to earn an advanced certification. Diving in the Virgin Islands is generally excellent, with healthy corals and abundant sea life. While you go diving, the crew may move Allende to a new anchorage and prepare lunch to be served upon your return.
Budget $120-140 per person for a two-tank morning dive trip.
Downwind Sailing Experience
Let us organize a one-way, downwind sailing charter from Anegada through the Virgin Islands. Your trip will include a scenic flight by plane or helicopter to Anegada after you land in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas or Tortola.
Flying to Anegada allows us to visit the rest of the British Virgin Islands while sailing mostly downwind. Downwind runs are generally a more comfortable point of sail and get you from place-to-place faster. Thus you spend more time at your daily destination, or have additional time to squeeze in an extra stop. This is ideal for non-sailors or those who may be at a higher risk of seasickness.
Cost subject to your departure point and destination. A recent quote for a group of 6 flying from St. Thomas to Anegada was $1,000.
Anegada Bonefishing
Anegada is home to some of the best bonefishing in the world thanks to miles and miles of flats south of the island. Pound-for-pound, bonefish are known to be some of the hardest fighting fish in the world. You may also get a shot at tarpon, permit, snook and other species. Your professional fishing guide can provide either fly fishing gear or spinning reels.
Cost: $400 for a half-day guided trip, maximum two guests.
Beach Bonfire
There’s nothing quite like a bonfire on a beach surrounded by family and friends. In the BVI, beach bonfires are legal only with a permit. We coordinate with a local start-up to obtain the permit, responsibly source firewood, select a site away from sea turtle nests and remove all evidence of your fun on the following day.
The Allende crew will keep your drink full, bring ingredients for s’mores and ensure the fire is properly put out at the end of the night.
Cost: $234+, depending on your preferences.
SNUBA
SNUBA is a unique underwater adventure now available in the BVI.
Learning to SNUBA is easy and does not require any diving certification or previous experience; if you can breathe, look and kick your legs then you can SNUBA. Breathe through a simple-to-use regulator while your air supply floats on a support raft at the surface. Anyone over age 8 can participate in this activity, which takes place at depths from 2-20ft.
Cost: $125-150 per person.
Weddings and Celebrations
Do you imagine a private elopement or an intimate wedding ceremony with only your travel companions as witnesses? Your crew can guide you through the process of making your marriage in the British Virgin Islands legal. Whether you envision being barefoot on the beach or taking in the view of the surrounding islands, allow us to take care of every detail, from submitting your marriage license application and booking a registered officiant to baking the cake!
Budget $250-500 for fees paid to the Registrar General’s office. Professional photographers and local florists can be hired at an additional cost.
Family Portrait Session
Take advantage of having your family together in a beautiful location. Hire a local photographer to capture your loved ones at their happiest and most relaxed. Your crew will manage the location and the logistics—all you have to do is smile!
Cost varies by photographer and number of images desired. Your crew can connect you with a variety of local professionals for your consideration.
